Rudy bartered/traded his full size 1963 Chevy Biscayne 2door sedan for this 1963
Chevy Corvair panel van, which he thought was a good deal at the time! He figured it was easier to get in and out of for a
full-figured man and he has a handicap electric cart that can fit in the cargo area. Well his first trip out
of town to a nearby car show was an event filled day. Rudy never made it to the show! As he drove, he heard a LOUD CLUNK, but
it was still rolling. Good everything is OK---Wrong! He looked in the drivers mirror----the wheel and tire were about 6 inches outside the wheelwell of the van!
The rear u-joint had snapped, causing the axle to break loose. After a 2 hour wait for a flatbed tow truck,
he made it home. The axle had broke - hit
the starter, broke it off - hit the side of the transmission, gouged it out and wrapped the speedometer cable around the axle. Many weeks later he
had the CorVan running to town again and the electric fuel pump quit. Is this the vehicle he wanted? Third
car show trip----the van WON 2nd place in the unfinished class...
YEAH..! What a super care free car..!
It is sleeping in the barn now. Rudy hopes 2012 will be more fun filled
than 2011!
Keep on truckin, U dumb van..!
